Former UFC fighter Chuck Liddell arrested on domestic violence charge

Retired mixed martial artist and former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell was arrested on Monday morning on a domestic violence charge, ESPN reported via the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Information Bureau (SIB).

According to the report, officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a home in Hidden Hills, California around midnight, and Liddell was taken into custody after it was determined a physical altercation had taken place. Liddell was booked just before 2 a.m. at the Lost Hills Sheriff's Station and is being held on $20,000 bail.

The 51-year-old former fighter retired from the UFC in 2010 and has only emerged once in the last decade to fight his former rival Tito Ortiz in 2018. Liddell was knocked out in the first round of that fight.

Sportskeeda pointed out Monday morning Liddell is the third former UFC fighter to be arrested for domestic battery in just the past month.

Former two-time light heavyweight champion Jon Jones was arrested in Vegas in September on multiple charges including battery domestic violence and tampering with a police vehicle. Just one day before Liddell was arrested in California, lightweight fighter Luis Pena was arrested in Florida on battery domestic violence. It's the second time Pena has been arrested in five months.

A representative for Liddell has yet to be reached for comment, ESPN said.
