The career of former UFC champion Holly Holm could be coming to an end.
Holm suffered a one-sided submission loss to Kayla Harrison this past weekend at UFC 300. Dana White, her boss, mentioned retirement should be next for the ex-boxing champion.
But Holm does not seem to agree.
“Well none of that went how I had envisioned over the last 10 weeks,” she posted on Instagram. “No excuses. I had all the best coaching, best teammates, best sparring, all the help I could dreamed.
“I went out there and I lost all focus on the game plan. Did nothing that we trained for. All the respect to Kayla, she was the better fighter.”
Holm, who knocked out Ronda Rousey and showed her striking skills in key wins, elected to grapple with the Olympic gold medalist. That seemed to even surprise Harrison.
From there, the 42-year-old failed to do much else.

Holm admitted she is healthy after the loss, but “my heart hurts, my ego hurts.”
“I just know I’m capable of more,” she said. “I’m one of those that likes to self-reflect rather than run from things. I think honesty with yourself can sometimes be the hardest thing.”
Since defeating Rousey to go to 10-0 in 2015, Holm has posted just a 5-7 record with a no-contest. She owns one win since 2020.
