Jan Blachowicz to defend light heavyweight title vs. Glover Teixeira at UFC 266

It appears UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz has his second title defense locked in.

Per Brett Okamoto of ESPN, UFC president Dana White has confirmed that Blachowicz will defend the strap versus veteran Glover Teixeira (32-7-0) at the UFC 266 pay-per-view on Sept. 4. There is currently no official venue or location for the card.

Blachowicz won the championship famously vacated by all-time great Jon Jones by knocking Dominick Reyes out at UFC 253 last September. The 38-year-old then successfully defended the strap when he defeated middleweight champion Israel Adesanya on March 6. As of the middle of April, Blachowicz sits No. 8 in the official UFC pound-for-pound rankings.

Teixeira, meanwhile, has become one of the more fascinating stories in mixed martial arts at the age of 41, as he's notched five consecutive victories to climb to No. 1 in the light heavyweight division rankings. He fell to the previously mentioned Jones in April 2014 and then failed to find any real momentum in the UFC until his latest win streak. Most recently, Teixeira finished Thiago Santos in the third round back in November.

Earlier in the day, White confirmed that Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier will complete their trilogy of fights on July 10 as previously reported.
