UFC 300 is rapidly approaching, with April 13 just around the corner. While there probably won’t be 300 Spartans commemorating the event, it’ll contain electric fights on the card.
That includes the undercard, where plenty of notable names lie. Therefore, you can’t ignore the fights beneath the main card. Which undercard fights should be the most entertaining? Who should be the most entertaining fighter?
The Most Interesting Fighter On UFC 300’s Undercard
Cody Garbrandt (14-5) has plenty to gain from winning at UFC 300. He has a tough opponent in Devesion Figueiredo (22-3-1), who moves and fights articulately. Garbrandt himself can shoot up the bantamweight rankings with a win, putting the division on notice.
With the Ohio native trying to recover from a slide after his 11-0 start, a victory will build his confidence. Smart defensive maneuvers and countering will go a long way in making “No Love” a household name again. That’s especially true against an opponent like Figueiredo, who relies on precision to win.
The Most Intriguing Match On the UFC 300 Undercard
Aljamain Sterling (23-4) is in a similar predicament to Garbrandt. The former bantamweight champion has been relegated to the undercard. He’s reeling from his most recent fight at UFC 292, where Sean O’Malley disposed of him in the second round with punches.
“The Funkmaster” faces off against Calvin Kattar (23-7), who’s a bit of a glass cannon. If Sterling can get on the offensive front early, he can overwhelm his opponent can get back in the win column.
On the other hand, Kattar just needs to land his punches and kicks. With a significant number of his strikes missing (39% accuracy), he needs to be accurate against Sterling. That’s especially true since Kattar fires them at a high clip (5.12 significant strikes per minute).
Who Needs to Win Their Fight the Most?
Before her most recent fight against Mackenzie Dern, Jessica Andrade (25-12) was on a three-match losing streak. Two of those losses were by submission, with the Brazilian fighter submitting both times in Round 2.
In fact, four of her career losses came via submission. Luckily, her opponent, Marina Rodriguez, only attempts 0.2 submissions per 15 minutes. She’s only had one victory via submission in her career.
Still, Andrade needs to win her fight the most because losing will permanently set her back in the undercard realm. Getting a victory will get her back in the thick of the women’s strawweight division.
