An all-action
Ultimate Fighting Championship featherweight scrap will treat fans atop the August event in Singapore.

On Thursday, the UFC announced the main attraction of its next show at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore on Aug. 26. While only one other fight is currently on the books for the UFC Fight Night event on that date – a bantamweight matchup between Rinya Nakamura and Fernando Garcia – the marquee fight will come at featherweight between former champ Max Holloway (24-7) and perennial contender Chan Sung Jung (17-7). Additionally, the company stated that the Road to UFC semifinals events would be going down on Aug. 27 in the same building, to set the stage for the finals of that contract-earning tourney.

Other than to champion Alexander Volkanovski, Holloway has not lost at featherweight in nearly 10 years, when Conor McGregor took a decision over him in August 2013. This includes a championship run that features a pair of knockouts over Jose Aldo, a doctor stoppage of Brian Ortega and a one-sided shellacking of Frankie Edgar. The Hawaiian did lose all three matches in a trilogy with Volkanovski, but he has kept himself atop the division by claiming three decisions over Calvin Kattar, Yair Rodriguez and Arnold Allen in the last few years.

This will be the first appearance of “The Korean Zombie” since suffering a knockout at the hands of Volkanovski in April 2022 for the 145-pound strap. The popular South Korean earned his crack at gold from a single win against Dan Ige in 2021, which was his first win since 2019. All three previous times in Jung’s storied career where he had been knocked out – against George Roop in 2010, Aldo in 2013, and Rodriguez in 2018 – Jung rebounded the next time out with a dramatic finish victory.
