Road House was an iconic movie featuring movie star and Dave Semenko-lookalike, Patrick Swayze. The movie has held a place in American pop culture, so much so that it’s become a running gag on Family Guy. But the show’s more than Peter Griffin kicking random stuff, though.

It’s supposed to be about Jake Gyllenhaal’s journey to kick as much ass as possible. Of course, it’s with Conor McGregor strutting in his way. In fact, the new Road House has attracted 50 million viewers over two initial weekends, according to Amazon. Such success certainly makes the Seattle corporation look like geniuses.

But let’s look at the former UFC lightweight star. What does McGregor bring to Road House? Does he hold any merit or value? Does “Notorious” make like Peter Griffin and kick anybody while saying the line?

Conor McGregor in Road House

If you’re looking for an honest answer regarding this question, it’s a simple “no”. Here’s the thing: Hollywood is littered with nothing but remakes, where directors and writers are void of any ideas or creativity. No, this isn’t a rag on political agendas, for those believing in outlandish conspiracies about Hollywood. It’s a criticism of remakes in general, where Hollywood relies on nostalgia to rake in cheap money.

As for McGregor himself, he swaggers out like he owns a wrestling promotion. With a consistently psycho look on his face, McGregor does what McGregor does: fight and act crazy. Of course, the original was dumb and over-the-top, yet it showed the villains and protagonist doing their jobs. With “Notorious,” it’s like he’s getting ready to hit the toilet.

Still, Road House will draw in a ton of eyeballs. Even with Conor McGregor’s hardman act, Jake Gyllenhaal saves the movie. He does his best Khabib impersonation, acting as the protagonist. But, boy, does it make one yearn for Patrick Swayze to save the day.
