Ronda Rousey, the first and current UFC women’s bantamweight champion, might be one of the biggest stars in MMA at the moment but do not expect to see any more of skin on her athletic and toned body than you have already been afforded as Rousey has gone on record to state she has no interest in shedding her clothes to pose nude for Playboy. The 26-year-old Rousey, who was featured in last year’s edition of ESPN The Magazine’s “Body Issue,” said on Tuesday’s episode of HBO’s Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel that truckloads of cash are used in an attempt to sway her, it will not coax her into changing her mind. “No one should be able to see my cash and prizes for $5, okay? I don’t care how much money they gave me,” Rousey said. Cash and prizes, eh? Considering the game show-eque terminology she used, I suppose her spread in ESPN The Magazine could be characterized as wonderful parting gifts. Real Sports 191: Ronda Rousey Rousey, who once boasted that she enjoys having sex before bouts, defended her “Body Issue” appearance, differentiating it from a potential spread in Playboy, saying, “I felt like it was a good way to promote myself and women’s MMA. It wasn’t like it was Playboy,” before adding, “If you want exposure, you have to expose yourself, to some extent.” Despite the fact that she is universally viewed as a sex symbol of sorts almost as much as she is an MMA fighter, Rousey insists she doesn’t she herself as one. “I don’t really see myself as a sex symbol because ever since people have started calling me a sex symbol, I haven’t had a lot of sex in my life,” Rousey revealed. “Like, it’s just, it’s not really working out great for me.” That’s a shame. But wait. Then what is with all the “I try to have as much sex as possible before I fight” talk? What gives? Whatever it means, that doesn’t bode well for her upcoming Feb. 23 fight against Liz Carmouche in the main event of UFC 157.
