“Stone Cold” Steve Austin leaves the door open for a potential match against CM Punk.

In an interview with Marc Raimondi for ESPN, Steve Austin noted that he would never say never about another match. CM Punk came up in the conversation, and Austin stated that the potential matchup “would be a good one” and joked they could do it if Punk could take a Stunner.

“I like Punk, and I think Punk likes me — so, as long as he can take a [Stone Cold] Stunner,” Austin said with a laugh. “I consider him a great friend, a great guy and a great wrestler who’s had a great career. We’ll see.”

There is no word on when Steve Austin might return to WWE programming. Meanwhile, CM Punk is back in WWE, as he returned at WWE Survivor Series, but he is sidelined with a torn triceps.

Steve Austin On Potentially Facing The Rock

CM Punk isn’t the only major dream match that has sparked some buzz. The Rock has also come back to WWE, leading some fans to envision another chapter of his legendary rivalry with Steve Austin. But in an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Austin shot it down.

“I think that would be in slow motion,” said Austin with a laugh. “I don’t know about that, but Philly would be a great place for it to happen. I worked with The Rock at WrestleMania XV, and we rocked the house. I pinned his shoulders to the mat, one-two-three. But I don’t know about that happening now.”

Austin added, “If you want to recreate it, that’s why WWE 2K24 is so great. We’ll see what happens in Philly. But if you want to see it happen, make it happen in your own house.”
