News spread of a possible UFC 300 main event being announced soon.

However, it was quickly dashed by one of the rumored fighters.

Khamzat Chimaev declared in an interview with MMA Uncensored that he will not compete during the epic April event.

“I will fight everybody,” he said (thanks to MMA Fighting for the quotes). “Leon (Edwards), (Dricus) du Plessis, anyone, but not (during) Ramadan.

“I think Ramanda (is during) UFC 300. Maybe somebody in Saudi Arabia. I want to fight there. Not fighting in Ramadan anymore.”

It was being reported that Chimaev would challenge either Edwards for the welterweight belt or du Plessis for middleweight gold.

However, Ramadan is March 10-April 9 with the epic event set for April 13 in Las Vegas. During Ramadan, Muslims are required to observe strict fasting with no food or water during daytime hours.

The UFC is expected to head back to Saudi Arabia in the summer.

UFC 300: Top Contender Does Not Want Fight

Chimaev has fought through Ramadan previously. In his final welterweight appearance in 2022, he fought Gilbert Burns just days out.

He moved to middleweight shortly after, scoring a recent victory vs. former champion Kamaru Usman.

So far, we are still awaiting confirmation of a UFC 300 main event. UFC president Dana White has revealed that they are in negotiations.
