They say any publicity is good publicity, but there are many people who feel that is not the case with the events that took place after Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated Conor McGregor on Saturday night. In fact, one fighter feels the incident could not have been worse for mixed martial arts.

Former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington blames Nurmagomedov for the brawl that took place after Saturday night’s fight, and he took to Twitter to bash Khabib for setting the sport back two decades. He also made a racist comment.

“@TeamKhabib is a #filthyanimal,” Covington wrote. “Way to set the sport back 20 years you stupid sheep f—-r #ufc229.”

As you likely saw, Khabib fired his mouthpiece at McGregor’s team and climbed out of the cage to attack them after he defeated McGregor in one of the biggest fights in UFC history. Two members of Khabib’s team then went after McGregor inside the ring and were arrested.

Khabib later apologized to the UFC and the Nevada State Athletic Commission for his and his team’s actions, but he also wondered why he gets bad press when McGregor has done and said much worse.

Interestingly enough, another UFC star seemed to feel that McGregor was the one who instigated all the mayhem.
