UFC flyweight Rachael Ostovich accepts USADA ban after failing drug test

On Thursday, Damon Martin of MMA Fighting, Simon Samano of MMA Junkie and other outlets confirmed that UFC flyweight Rachael Ostovich received an eight-month suspension after she tested positive for two banned substances earlier this year.

Ostovich reportedly failed a January test after ostarine and GW1516 were found in her blood during an out-of-competition screening. She originally received a one-year ban from the United States Anti-Doping Agency, but it was reduced four months "due to time served under a provisional suspension in the latter half of 2019 for an atypical finding," per a USADA statement.

Ostovich reported a supplement she believed caused her to test positive for the drugs. While those substances weren't listed as ingredients, further analysis proved the product contained both ostarine and GW1516. The 29-year-old nevertheless remains suspended through Aug. 3.

Ostovich's name was in headlines in November 2018 following a scary domestic-violence incident involving Arnold Berdon, who is now her ex-husband. Berdon pleaded no contest to charges in March 2019, per the Associated Press (h/t MMA Junkie).

Ostovich holds a 4-5 professional record, but she hasn't fought since she lost to Paige VanZant via submission in January 2019.
