UFC returning to U.K. for first time since pandemic

The UFC is set to hold its first event in the United Kingdom in three years, multiple sources reported on Wednesday.

While no matchups have been confirmed for the fight card yet, the event is set to take place at O2 Arena in London on March 19 with tickets going on sale in February.

A fight hasn't been held in the U.K. since 2019 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The last event scheduled for March 2020 was canceled in wake of international lockdowns.

The last event held there, UFC 147 in 2019, was headlined by Jorge Masvidal and Darren Till of Liverpool. Masvidal defeated Till with a second-round knockout.

The upcoming event in March 2022 will be the 12th time a UFC event has been held across the pond.

"Every time we put on an event in London, it's an unbelievable experience," UFC president Dana White said in a statement, via ESPN.  "It's a different kind of energy in England. And I can't wait to get back there with a fight card on March 19."
