Paulo Costa secured a points victory over Luke Rockhold at UFC 278… but not before his face was smothered with blood.

Costa produced a superb performance in the octagon to convince the judges that he was worthy of being given the victory, but it wasn’t all straightforward for the Brazilian.

While Costa was on the canvas, with Rockhold laying on top of him, the man who ultimately won the contest received a shower in blood… and it wasn’t his own.

while Rockhold was unable to shed enough of Costa’s blood to get the victory himself, he was successful in his efforts to smear it all over his opponent’s face.

The close-up camera angle of the pair grappling on the floor showed Rockhold getting up close and personal with Costa, rubbing blood all over him.

It’s a bit of a grim watch, so if you’re eating your Sunday dinner, you’re probably best to avoid clicking the play button below.

We’re not entirely sure what Rockhold was trying to achieve here, but it’s seriously sadistic, isn’t it?

We wouldn’t want our daughter to bring him home for dinner – that’s for sure.
