After one of, if not the best start to a season for Bubba Wallace, the last two weeks have been less than ideal for the 23 team. Two DNFs in two weeks have derailed a NASCAR season where Wallace has three top-5s and a top-10 finish to his record.

Good news, he has Kansas, Darlington, and Charlotte coming up. Throw the All-Star race in there too since Wallace was P2 at North Wilkesboro a year ago. He scored top-5 finishes at all four of those races last season.

Bubba Wallace didn’t perform great in qualifying. However, these Toyotas are set up for race trim at these tracks a lot of times. It wasn’t a Wallace thing as much as it was a Toyota thing.

After two rough weeks in the NASCAR Cup Series, Wallace went home. There waiting for him was a gift from his wife with a little advice.

“When you’re getting kicked in the, yeah, the last two weeks, the only thing you can do is look forward to a place where you’ve had a lot of success and been fast,” Wallace said to media, via Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “It’s been a frustrating last couple of weeks knowing we had the speed and just haven’t been able to close out the deal. But it’s Kansas, it’s a new week.

“I was talking, I was doing some interviews earlier this week. I came home Sunday night from Dover and I woke up Monday morning and there was a candle warmer. I’m not a candle-warmer person, my wife is. I was like, ‘Nice, new candle warmer,’ and she was like ‘Did you see what it says on it though? It says ‘It’s a new day.” She was like ‘I got that for you.’ I’m like, ‘Oh thanks that’s 10 candle warmers we have in the house now but that’s okay, thank you.”

Bubba Wallace also joked about Kyle Larson’s success. He wants to find out where he’s getting that good luck so he can turn his season around.

“I mean, I’m just trying to find the horseshoe that’s up his [Kyle Larson’s] ass. It’s, you know, I think learning how the sport can go. You can start your year off the best you’ve ever done and you’ve got to be mindful it go can south quick. Which it has. But that shouldn’t deter you from the path that you set yourself up with at the start of the year. So you can be frustrated and pi--ed off all you want but as long as you make it constructive criticism, giving yourself and the team the right feedback to keep moving the needle forward.

“That’s what I’ve been trying to do. Basically, it’s easier for me to put it to the side, but it’s still frustrating, it’s still hard. So, it is what it is. The sport doesn’t stop, time doesn’t stop for you. So, no need to sit and dwell on it, there’s a lot of people in your corner that are looking for good things out of this weekend so we’ve gotta go out and do that for them.”

Bubba Wallace really needs a good run at Kansas. He’s starting middle of the pack, but is hoping that he can move up throughout the 400-mile race.
