Formula 1’s newfound popularity could be credited to the Netflix docuseries, ‘Drive to Survive.’ The show managed to bring in a behind-the-scenes view of the paddock to viewers which attracted millions of new fans to F1. Now, ex-NASCAR and IndyCar star Danica Patrick joins the crew in its sixth season set to release soon.

Drive to Survive’s Co-executive producer Tom Rogers highlighted the reason for Patrick’s arrival on the show. Danica Patrick has become infamous for her views in recent years. Fans have even labeled her as a conspiracy junkie in the past. However, Rogers claimed that the show was interested in the racing perspective that the American brings to the show. The 41-year-old is perhaps the most popular female driver of the millennia and spent several seasons in NASCAR.

We attempt to focus on the stories of the sport and with Danica [Patrick], she brings a great perspective of … what it’s like to drive a racing car … and the challenges of the sport. The periphery to that is less important for us in the sense that she’s bringing a good contribution to the story. Tom Rogers told NY Post

Tom Rogers reckoned that Patrick would help explain the thought process of drivers to viewers due to her immense racing experience. As such, Danica Patrick’s addition to the show will certainly interest fans alongside the likes of Will Buxton. Although, some fans might be divided to see the 41-year-old in the sixth season of the show.

I think she does a really good job explaining to our viewers some of the thought processes that the drivers are going through. Her background as a driver provides a really interesting perspective that we maybe haven’t tapped into before.

Drive to Survive’s sixth season set to be the most thrilling one yet

Drive to Survive was first released in 2019 based on the 2018 F1 season, Ever since, fans have immersed themselves into the Netflix show which has boosted the sport’s popularity. The sixth season focusing on the 2023 season will be no different. As the shoemakers go all-out to bring in an exciting view of the action on and off the track.

Unfortunately, Max Verstappen will not have a dedicated episode on Drive to Survive season six. The Dutchman’s record-breaking 2023 campaign will not be covered by the show. Certainly, this will be a blow to the overall reception of the Netflix series’ latest edition. However, fans will undoubtedly tune in to watch the upcoming season.

Drive to Survive season six will be released globally on February 23. Certainly, the latest season will provide some shocking revelations as has been the tradition in recent years. Moreover, Danica Patrick’s arrival would enhance the overall viewing experience as a talented driver tries to share her perspective over the entire season.
