In the 2024 season, there is a new team in town. Faction 46 is joining the NASCAR ranks in the Craftsman Truck Series. This is going to be a one truck team that will compete in the full season next year. A driver has yet to be announced for the team.

It isn’t every day that a new team pops up in the NASCAR national series. Faction 46 is an interesting entry. It is another piece of evidence that NASCAR continues to grow. Lane Moore is at the head of this venture as he and his group continue to invest in motorsports.

Most recently, Moore invested in Veer Motorsports, a team fielding the No. 66 in the ARCA Menards Series.

Now, Moore is getting into the Craftsman Truck Series with Faction 46. Here is what he had to say while speaking with Eric Estepp of the Out of the Groove YouTube show.

“It’s simple,” Moore said about his reasoning. “I love racing, I’ve loved racing all my life. Whether it’s racing myself or helping others get to the track it’s been something that’s been a passion of mine. The idea of starting a team’s been on the back of my mind a long time. So, this year, parts and pieces just kind of fell together and we’re here.”

Here is the official hype video. A driver announcement is expected this weekend.

As for the team name, “Faction” is just a fun word according to Moore. To be honest, I like it more than “Team” or “Racing” or the other usual suspects in NASCAR names. For right now, the “46” aspect is a secret. Something we will find out when the driver is announced.

Faction 46 driver is under wraps… for now

Now, I’m very interested to see where this goes. Faction 46 is going to be in an alliance with Niece Motorsports. So, the trucks are going to be good equipment. We just saw Carson Hocevar take the Niece team to four wins and a Championship 4 appearance in 2023.

So, let’s connect some dots and do the math here. Did you see those colors? They look familiar don’t they? It’s almost like the Petty GMS colors, don’t you think? And GMS Racing is closed down.

Hang with me here – it is the 75th anniversary of Petty family racing in 2024. That’s a big deal. And while there isn’t a “Petty” name in the NASCAR national series – there is still Petty blood racing. Thad Moffitt, grandson of The King himself.

Moffitt has an announcement set for this Saturday. During Moffitt’s ARCA career, he has raced the No. 46 car. Look folks, I’m not saying I have any kind of information. However, the clues are pointing towards Faction 46 being a new Petty team with Moffitt as the driver.
