The Texas Motor Speedway was resurfaced back in 2016. The re-configuration has led to a lot of criticism from the drivers as the track’s surface lacks grip. Now, Team Penske driver and two times Cup champion Joey Logano shared his views on the track after last Sunday’s Cup event.
Joey Logano finished P11 during the NASCAR Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway last race weekend. The driver was heavily disappointed with his result in Texas and shared how the track’s resurfacing, sticky nature has ruined its racing capabilities.
The resin PJ one stuff that they sprayed down years ago, races ago is still on the racetrack. And I don't know if it collects dust on top of it. Like it's still sticky, you know, you can feel it. It's sticky. And the first few laps you go up there, it's complete ice. Joey Logano said via SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
The No. 22 Ford Mustang Dark Horse driver is one of the biggest stars to criticize the issues with the track’s resurfacing. Although, this time the racing in Texas was decent, it still has a long way to go if it wants to produce racing like it used to back in the 2000s.

The NASCAR Cup Series race in Texas saw some pretty average racing. With drivers all over the grid complaining about the track’s lack of grip due to the track’s surface. Following this, Joey Logano shared how he thinks racing can be improved in Texas.
I wish there was a way to take that stuff off. I don't know how to do that, but I think the racing would be better if you didn't have that crap up there. I think. So, it's hard for me to say the racing's bad there. Like, I mean, it was pretty decent this week on a few occasions. We just got to, I think if we can get up there sooner, it would be better. Joey Logano said.
The driver added how the racing would be massively improved if the track’s surface is cleaned off and made how it was before 2016. With so many top drivers criticizing the track, NASCAR will definitely want to look into possible solutions as the track is one of the most iconic NASCAR tracks of all time.
