Joey Logano wins pole at Las Vegas, clinches third consecutive front-row start

Joey Logano has clinched his third front-row qualifying effort of 2024, and we're only three weeks into the season.

The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion won his second pole of the season and is hoping that, unlike in Atlanta, he's able to maintain his front-row starting spot for Sunday's race.

The pole is the 30th of Logano's career. Kyle Larson will start beside Logano in second when the Pennzoil 400 goes green.

Daytona 500 winner William Byron qualified fourth, while Bubba Wallace, the only driver in the Cup Series to finish top ten in both races this season, qualified fifth.

Other notable qualifying efforts include defending champion Ryan Blaney in 15th, Atlanta winner Daniel Suarez in 16th, practice leader Ross Chastain in 20th and Las Vegas native Kyle Busch in 21st. Derek Kraus qualified 33rd for his NASCAR Cup Series debut, while Ryan Preece was unable to make a lap due to a crash sustained earlier in the day in practice. Justin Haley and JJ Yeley were also unable to make a lap, leaving Daniel Hemric in 34th as the slowest qualifier on speed.

Logano's Team Penske teammate and 2022 Daytona 500 winner Austin Cindric also showed good pace in qualifying, putting himself third on the grid for tomorrow's race while Michael McDowell, who won his first career pole last weekend at Atlanta and started on the front row for the Daytona 500, qualified 12th.

Logano will lead the field to green in Sunday's Pennzoil 400 at 3:30 p.m. ET. The race will air on FOX, PRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
