Today on the Pat McAfee Show things got a little… Rowdy. Kyle Busch joined the show and talked NASCAR with the guys. Among the topics that came up, young drivers, and if they are willing to get into scraps like previous generations.
Of course, Kyle Busch has been involved in his fair share of scuffles on pit road. Sometimes you just have to go up to a guy and let him know how you feel, and that doesn’t involve words many times.
While talking with McAfee, Busch was asked about the younger generation of drivers and if they like to get as rowdy as the man himself.
“The younger generation is all about crashing before winning, so they tend to just throw it into the corner alongside of you and just wipe you out more times than not,” Busch said on the Pat McAfee Show. “Last week there was a couple of crashes, a couple of guys were pi--ed off at each other, but ummm, I think the last guy to throw a punch was me so no fights have really happened lately but it probably should, things would get settled a lot quicker.”
Now, I’ll forgive Kyle Busch here. He totally forgot about Ross Chastain popping Noah Gragson in the face last year at Kansas. However, to his credit, Busch was P35 that week in a DNF effort. Likely due to one of those young guys on the track, I’m sure.
So, we know where Busch stands on altercations – we need more of them. Let’s get these drivers a little mad in the next few weeks. Someone is bound to get tired of getting wrecked eventually. I hear Joey Logano has had a tough go of things, and he was less than happy last week.
Kyle Busch looking to match three NASCAR greats
Heading into Bristol, Kyle Busch is chasing history. Right now, he sits all by himself in third place all-time in Bristol Cup Series wins. Eight times, Rowdy has found himself in Victory Lane at the iconic track.
While this season has been shaky to start, Busch can get things corrected on Sunday with a strong performance or even a win. Should he manage to win at Bristol, he will join Dale Earnhardt, Rusty Wallace, and Cale Yarborough for second all-time in wins at the track.
The only driver ahead of that Hall of Fame trio, Darrell Waltrip with 12 career wins. The Last Great Colosseum is the place where NASCAR’s most battle-tested warriors make a name for themselves, time and time again.
Kyle Busch has to get things going in a positive direction. This week is as good as any for Busch. Will he be able to overcome his early season struggles and prevail in Bristol?
