Another win for the winningest driver in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Kyle Busch claims his 65th victory. Rowdy had to be patient in his No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevy Silverado.
Kyle Busch didn’t lead all the laps, but he was always right there to threaten for the lead. With less than 10 laps to go, Busch pushed through lapped traffic and to the lead as Grant Enfinger took on a flat tire and fell through the field.
After last week’s disaster of a race in Daytona, the Truck Series needed this. Was Busch responsible for the sensible driving, acting as the elder in the field? I’m not sure, but this was a fantastic race.
Busch won Stage 2 on his way to the overall race win.
Ty Majeski was there with a chance to win. He made a move high to go around Busch, it didn’t work. Corey Heim almost went by the 98 and took P2 to close out this race, but Majeski held on.
Taylor Gray, Nick Sanchez, Kaden Honeycutt, Tyler Ankrum, Rajah Caruth, Daniel Dye, and Dean Thompson were the top-10.
Kyle Busch remains the dominant force in the Truck Series. He may not have his own team, but those Spire trucks are basically his. Four more races in the trucks for Rowdy this season, four more potential wins.
Kyle Busch makes veteran move to win at Atlanta
If you were upset at the immaturity and constant wrecks of Daytona, then you probably loved this Atlanta race. Smaller track, smaller field – fewer trucks makes it easier to race. However, there was a level of respect in this race that just wasn’t there last week.
Kyle Busch drove a great race. He was locked in behind Grant Enfinger for a number of laps. Then, after a small bit of contact, Enfinger got a flat tire and Busch went on to take the lead and the win. He either bided his time until the perfect moment, or made an expert move on Enfinger to take this race from him.
My only complaint is that we never saw a second-line form at the end of the race. No one was willing to push someone else on the bottom to go around the leaders. So, we had single-file racing to end for the most part. Then again, it was better than what we saw law week.
With this win, Kyle Busch extends his record in the Truck Series to 65 total checkered flags. One day he hopes to run full-time in the series to claim the championship. He has been a champion in Xfinity and Cup, one day he hopes to complete the trifecta.
