Kyle Larson, Kasey Kahne to compete in dirt racing sprint on Friday

A pair of NASCAR personalities are preparing to return to a different type of track on Friday.

Nate Ryan of NBC Sports confirmed that Kyle Larson and Kasey Kahne will both compete in Friday's World of Outlaws dirt-track race at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. Fans will not be able to attend the event due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Fans can watch the action via pay-per-view outlet DIRTVision.

Kahne retired from NASCAR competition after the 2018 season. As Jacob Seelman of Speed Sport wrote, Kahne is racing in place of James McFadden, who is quarantined in Australia because of the virus outbreak. It's not yet known when McFadden will be able to reenter the United States.

Larson made headlines last month after he was fired by Chip Ganassi Racing for using a racial slur during an iRacing event on April 12. He remains indefinitely suspended by NASCAR.

NASCAR currently intends to return to racing behind closed doors and without spectators in attendance on May 17 with a 400-mile race at Darlington Raceway.
