Matt DiBenedetto releases statement after Rackley W.A.R. replaces him for final three races

“No words can express the disappointment I’m feeling right now and also not being able to finish the season out,” DiBenedetto wrote on Twitter. “I really want to thank my fans for always being there for me, it means the world to me and I’ll always be there for you. Thank you NASCAR and Craftsman for such an awesome series that I love competing in with all my heart! Working on 2024 and will update you all soon!”

Rackley W.A.R. announced the decision in a statement, but didn’t disclose the reason why or who would be replacing DiBenedetto in the No. 25 truck. DiBenedetto, who joined Rackley W.A.R. ahead of the 2022 season after six seasons in the Cup Series, announced at the start of the playoffs he would be leaving the race team at season’s end.

“Rackley W.A.R. has reached a decision to make a driver change for its No. 25 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) entry for the remaining three (3) events of the 2023 race season, including Talladega Superspeedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway, and Phoenix Raceway,” the race team said in a statement. “The team, in its third year as a full-time NCTS team, sponsored by Rackley Roofing Co, Inc. and W.A.R. Shocks, will release further details of the transaction once they are finalized.”

The 32-year-old qualified for the playoffs this season, but went home in the Round of 10. Winless this season, DiBenedetto notched his first Truck Series victory in the Chevrolet Silverado 250 at Talladega Superspeedway in October 2022. This season, he recorded two top 5s and 12 top 10s in 20 starts.

DiBenedetto hasn’t announced his NASCAR plans for 2024.

“I’m looking forward to what the future holds,” DiBenedetto said. “As of right now I don’t have 2024 plans, but I am exploring all options in all series. Thank you to my dedicated and awesome fan base. As well as NASCAR and the whole industry for being able to make a career out of what I love.”
