Two-time Xfinity Series champion Dale Earnhardt Jr. has confirmed that his contract with NBC Sport ended last year for the NASCAR Broadcaster role, and he is yet to sign a new deal. He has been an NBC Sports analyst since becoming a broadcaster, producing some of the most entertaining moments in the booth.

He has revealed via his podcast Dale Jr. Download, admitting that he is technically jobless as a broadcaster. Dale Jr. has also confirmed that the deal ended at the end of last year, and since then, he has been in talks with the network and the other NASCAR partners over an extension but is yet to sign a contract.

My contract with NBC is up. It was up at the end of last year. I’m currently working through what that looks like for me. I definitely love being in the broadcast booth and want to continue doing that. We’ve had some great conversations with all of NASCAR’s TV partners. My home and my love is at NBC and I’d love to be back with them so we’ll see where it goes. But right now, I really don’t have a job in terms of broadcasting. Junior said, as reported by On3.com.

Dale Jr. is the most famous driver in the sport’s history and has the biggest fan base. NBC has made a lot of gains, having the former Daytona 500 winner as the poster boy for NASCAR coverage. With the 2024 season yet to start, the network should prioritize re-signing their star commentator, as finding a proper replacement for him would be a mega task.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is anxious about sorting the NBC contract situation

The JR Motorsports co-owner, while discussing more about his future, admitted that he is a little bit anxious about sorting out his contract. He pointed out that he has had fun working for NBC with some legendary names of the sport, like Steve Letarte.

As I learn more about my broadcasting future, I will let everyone know about that. I’m anxious to get that sorted out because certainly have had a lot of fun with NBC over the years doing that, broadcasting with (Steve) Letarte and those guys.

NBC and Dale Earnhardt Jr. have more than enough time remaining before the second half of the season starts to make a deal that works for both parties. it’s highly unlikely that Dale Jr. would ending his broadcasting career with NBC, but there would surely be some changes in his role compared to past from 2024.
