As they have done since last season, NASCAR is once again showing off an illegal item from a previous week. This time it is Joey Logano’s glove. During Atlanta qualifying, Logano appeared to have an altered glove, and now we know exactly what they did to it.

Someone on the No. 22 team is very creative. This racing glove, placed on Logano’s left hand, was webbed. The webbing was visible from the in-car camera last week at Atlanta. However, the extent of the webbing was more than previously believed.

In the photo below you can see that there is webbing between each of the fingers. You can see that the extra material was added after the fact. It is not only a safety violation but was also used to gain an advantage.

Joey Logano received a $10,000 fine from NASCAR. At Atlanta, he had to start at the rear of the field and serve a pass-through penalty to begin the race. Here is a photo from The Athletic‘s Jeff Gluck.

The transparency from NASCAR on this lately has been great. Seeing parts and even gloves taken and shown off, that’s building credibility. It makes it easier for fans and teams to accept penalties from the sanctioning body when they see exactly what was wrong.

Ultimately, this wasn’t a huge deal. Logano served his competition penalty at Atlanta. Then, he received his fine. I think he will be fine losing out on some cash if he can keep all of the points that he’s garnered in the first two races.

Joey Logano favorite for Las Vegas?

The last time a non-Hendrick car won at Las Vegas was Joey Logano in 2022 on his way to the NASCAR Cup Series championship. So, outside of Kyle Larson and William Byron, should Logano be the favorite?

Besides two superspeedway-style races at Daytona and Atlanta, we don’t know much about the field this year. We don’t know how these Ford Mustang Dark Horse bodies and Toyota Camry XSE bodies are going to hold up.

Joey Logano is going to be a championship contender more than likely regardless. However, listed at +1400 odds entering the weekend, Vegas doesn’t have the most faith in him. Logano has won at this track and would really like to get his first win of the season out of the way early.

Last year was definitely step back for the 22 team. They did not perform up to their own standards. While their teammate Ryan Blaney won the championship, they have to prove they can put this Penske equipment into Victory Lane again.

Do you have much faith in Joey Logano this weekend? Will he be as solid in qualifying without his webbed glove?
