NASCAR welcomes fans to June 14 Homestead-Miami race, June 21 Talladega event

Pockets of NASCAR fans won't have to wait long to watch live racing in person despite concerns regarding the coronavirus pandemic.

On Tuesday, NASCAR announced its plans to welcome spectators to Sunday's (June 14) Dixie Vodka 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway and to the June 21 GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.

Per an official statement, NASCAR explained all fans will be screened upon arrival, they will be required to wear masks and they are asked to respect social-distancing guidelines at six feet apart. Social distancing will be enforced by track staffs.

Spectators won't have infield access. While tailgates are prohibited, Homestead-Miami Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway will both offer concessions. Forty-four RV camping spaces will be made available for the GEICO 500 atop the Alabama Gang Superstretch. Screening for those spots begins Friday, June 19.

The NASCAR statement added that 1,000 South Florida military members will be honorary guests for the Dixie Vodka 400. Up to 5,000 fans can attend the GEICO 500. Ticket information is found on the official websites for those venues.

NASCAR Executive Vice President, Chief Operations and Sales Officer Daryl Wolfe said:

"We have tremendous respect and appreciation for the responsibility that comes with integrating guests back into our events. We believe implementing this methodical process is an important step forward for the sport and the future of live sporting events. The passion and unwavering support of our industry and fans is the reason we race each weekend and we look forward to slowly and responsibly welcoming them back at select events."

NASCAR will beat the PGA Tour by roughly one month in allowing spectators amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The Jack Nicklaus Memorial Tournament at the Golden Bear's Muirfield Village Golf Club in Ohio is planning to have fans on the course in July

Texas stadiums can be filled up to 50 percent capacity for sporting events under current guidelines

While the UFC has a handful of events scheduled in July on its Fight Island located in Abu Dhabi, the location for the Aug. 15 showdown between heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and former two-division champion Daniel Cormier is unknown.

UFC boss Dana White could look to hold that event somewhere a decreased percentage of fans -- per the venue's standard maximum capacity -- can attend.
