Ryan Newman was taken to the hospital in an ambulance on Monday after a crash near the finish line of the Daytona 500.

Newman was leading in the final lap and got nudged by Team Penske Ford driver Ryan Blaney. Newman spun out and crashed into the wall, then flipped over multiple times.

Newman actually crossed the finish line with his car upside down and finished fourth. Flames had to be extinguished from his car before it was flipped over and he could be removed.

Newman was then taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

Denny Hamlin ended up winning the race, beating Blaney by 0.014 seconds, the second-closest finish in Daytona 500 history. Hamlin’s win was another victory for Joe Gibbs Racing.
