The NASCAR Cup race on Sunday at Bristol Motor Speedway last Sunday would be marked for the wild tire wear and the chaos that followed. Combination of Goodyear tire’s rubber compound and the resin that was applied on the concrete track ahead of the event made the fall of rubber to stay at the track as marbles. Stewart Haas Racing’s Chase Briscoe after the race admitted that it was bizarre event at Tennessee.
The race was won by the tire maestro Denny Hamlin in his Toyota. Moreover, the 43-year-old was able to implement his experience and catered his tires to secure victory in the deranged race. However, on the other end of the field, Tony Stewart ‘s driver Chase Briscoe along many finished outside the lead lap and wasn’t able to cope up with the extreme tire wear. The 29-year-old who finished P13 in the race admitted that it was the most bizarre race he has ever been part of and added that without such extreme tyer wear this could’ve been much more fun.
Crazy race, by far the most bizarre race I’ve ever been a part of trying to not go hard at all trying to save your tires, and then you’d feel good and they would just go all at once – they would be blowing. It was definitely weird just how you had to run that race, a cat-and-mouse game, which I think would’ve been really fun if you didn’t have to worry about the tires blowing or coming apart. The race was spent in understanding how to ease the tires in not burn them out. However, several drivers faced tire blowouts and it turned their races into shambles. Despite this, the pilots felt that this race was one of a kind. Though it was a fun experience many doesn’t want to see such extreme tire fall off ever again in the series.
Chase Briscoe laments his frustrating Bristol race result
The SHR driver is one of the most reputed drivers on the field and is the lead racer at SHR. But he hasn’t been able to produce a statement performance so far this season and the tire wear deprived him of yet another opportunity to do that on Sunday. Despite starting in the top-10, Briscoe was unable to make his way up the ladder and instead fell down a few positions. He believes he underachieved with the car he had.
Thirteenth for us, we were definitely way better than 13th, but there at the end my tire went down and I was just trying to make it to the end without having to pit again. To be frustrated with 13th from where we were last year just as a season says a lot about where we are this year. We’ll just have to move on and continue to get better. Chase Briscoe said.
The 29-year-old was frustrated with the result as he believed that he had a car that was able to fight that weekend. However, the Indiana native was filled with optimism comparing his previous year’s result with this season’s. Moreover, He interpreted this year’s finish as an improvement over his past attempts at the track. He would be hoping for a better weekend out in COTA next week.
