The 2024 NASCAR Cup season has been underwhelming for Stewart Haas Racing. They came into this season with hopes of redemption following the embarrassing 2023 season, where they went winless. To make it worse they lost two of their veteran drivers in Kevin Harvick and Aric Almirola , who retired from Cup Series.

Chase Briscoe, who has been the second-best driver behind Kevin Harvick in the Next-Gen era, assumed the role of lead driver at SHR. Though he has been the standout racer for Tony Stewart, compared to rest of the field his results have been underwhelming. He is yet to secure a top-5 finish this season and has finished outside the top-10 in six of the ten races so far this season.

While talking about his performance ahead of the upcoming race at Dover, Briscoe pointed out that he doesn’t have an excuse left for his poor form. He admitted that he has sort his dump mistakes. The No:14 Ford Mustang driver added that he is putting a lot of pressure on himself to maximize race results every weekend.

I felt like I don’t have the excuse anymore of “Hey, you’re still trying to figure this out.” I have over 100 Cup starts now. I need to know what I’m doing and not be making mistakes — even just dumb mistakes. I feel like that’s one thing that I put a lot of pressure on myself, just putting races together now and really maximizing the day. Chase Briscoe said via Fox Sports.

Chase Briscoe claims he thrives in high-pressure situations

Briscoe pointed out that he has always succeeded in high pressure situations he has found himself over the years. So, he is expecting deliver in the 2024 season with the help of the experience he has gathered over the years,

I definitely feel like my entire career, I’ve just done better when I’m in these heavy-pressure situations for whatever reason. Even if it not being an option year, your fourth year in the Cup Series, you’ve got to start putting up results. I was able to win my sophomore season [in 2022] and make a deep playoff run, but last year was embarrassing, truthfully, just from how I ran statistically. Chase Briscoe said.

The No:14 team has been consistent in terms of finishing inside the top-15 in the last two months, but now it’s the time to take the next-step. They have to find the edge with new Ford to score the all-important win in the 2024 season and end the poor winless streak.
