Ever since the introduction of the Next-generation cars in 2022, there’s been a steady decline in good side-by-side racing in short tracks. The last two NASCAR Cup Series races, hosted by Richmond and Martinsville didn’t have a lot entertaining moments ort even crashes, other than a few tussles of words among the drivers.

The North Wilkesboro Speedway is another short track that the Cup garage will be racing at next. Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. is worried about the potential race product. Recently on his podcast, Junior spoke about how he is scared about the race at Wilkesboro due to the nature of the current-generation NASCAR cars.

Hey man, i'm worried about Wilkesboro. We finally got this track back, but the short track package is not good. We may you know how can Wilkesboro suceed if we don't put a good product on that race track. Dale Earnhardt Jr. said on the Dale Jr. Download Podcast.

The former JR Motorsports driver also cited recent short track races such as Richmond and Martinsville where there was a lackluster race as an example of issues the current cars are facing at short tracks. He pleaded that NASCAR finds a solution for these issues in-order to secure the future of historic NASCAR tracks such as Wilkesboro.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is ready to test tires for struggling Next-Gen cars

The recent NASCAR Cup Series races at Richmond and Martinsville have acted as an eye-opener to NASCAR viewers. Former NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. has recently spoken about the issues with the Next-Generation cars and pleaded with NASCAR to fix them.

Following his statements on his podcast Dale. Jr Download, Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin replied sarcastically by asking the NASCAR Hall of Famer to test tires at Martinsville and Richmond in order to fix these issues. Earnhardt then replied to Hamlin.

I'm available for hire. Dale Earnhardt Jr. wrote on X.

From what it looks like, Earnhardt Jr. really wants these short-track package issues to be solved in order to produce good racing. Only time will tell if the former JR Motorsports driver gets the call-up to test the tires to help find solutions for the struggling Next-Gen cars.
