Watch: 'The big one' hits with eight laps to go at Daytona 500

Twenty-two cars were involved in a massive pile-up with eight laps remaining at Monday's Daytona 500 that occurred when William Byron's No. 24 Chevrolet clipped the back-right bumper of Brad Keselowki's No. 6 Ford.

That set off a chain reaction that impacted multiple cars and drivers, including 2023 NASCAR Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney, as well as other big names, including Kyle Larson, Brad Keselowski, Denny Hamlin, Martin Truex Jr., Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Joey Logano.

Byron escaped unscathed and was in third at the time of the caution. He went on to win, only leading for the final four laps of the race. It's the ninth Daytona 500 win for Hendrick Motorsports, tied with Petty Enterprises for the most all-time.

The drivers involved in the wreck shared varying viewpoints afterward. Keselowski took a half-glass-full approach, saying, "We got caught up in it. Just glad to be competitive ... glad to have a chance. We were making the pass for the lead to win the Daytona 500. That's about all you can ask for."

Logano was well enthusiastic, bluntly saying, "It's speedway racing. It's a lot of fun until it sucks."
