Brad Keselowski Calls Out NASCAR for Big Inconsistency After Darlington

Earlier this season, NASCAR found itself in hot water for inconsistent rulings on last-lap accidents.

In the first two weekends of the season, NASCAR went back and forth on caution flag decisions in both the Cup and Xfinity Series races at Daytona and Atlanta, understandably leaving fans frustrated.

NASCAR Senior VP of Competition Elton Sawyer announced a plan for last-lap cautions following the early season outrage, saying, “In an effort to give our fans a green-flag finish that they pay for, there's a balance between entertainment, competition and the safety element.

“If you have a situation like we did [in Atlanta], the wreck occurred somewhere in between 6th and 7th running positions there. So there's a lot of cars still behind them. If we don't throw the caution, you're incentivizing the competitors to drive through that.”

It appears we’re still far from consistency when it comes to cautions though.

Brad Keselowski is the most recent driver to call out NASCAR for its inconsistent caution flag decisions.

“It doesn’t bother me when yellows don’t get thrown for me or I get penalties that are questionable,” the No. 6 car driver wrote on X. “IT MAKES ME MAD AS HELL when it’s not the same for others, which has been the case too many times over the last few years.”

The post comes as a result of an incident at Darlington Raceway last weekend in which a caution was not called when Keselowski had a loose wheel in the middle of the track. The yellow flag wasn't initially waved but delayed until several laps later after the car had already made its way around the track and onto pit road.

The 2025 season has been a struggle for the RFK Racing driver/co-owner, who finished 33rd at Darlington. He is yet to win a race or finish in the top 10 this year.
