Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Steve Letarte have a history together. It started in 2011 when the latter became the crew chief for the former.

In their first season together, Earnhardt didn’t score any victories but did record a dozen top-10 results and, more importantly, finished seventh in the points standings, which was a dramatic improvement from the year before when he finished 21st.

In 2012, Earnhardt made his first trip to Victory Lane in four years at Michigan with Letarte on the box. The following year he didn’t earn any wins but the No. 88 driver finish fifth in the overall points with 22 top 10s, including 10 top fives.

The pair worked together a final season in 2014, which included four wins, before Letarte jettisoned off to work for NBC. Interestingly, in 2018, the two reunited on the air with the Peacock and stayed together for five seasons.

Last year, Junior took a season off while Letarte continued his work with the network. The two will once again be working together in the broadcast booth when NASCAR starts airing on Amazon Prime for the Coca-Cola 600 on May 25.

On Sunday, Letarte shared a photo on Instagram showing that they were working the Kansas race with Adam Alexander and prepping for the upcoming season.

"Rehearsal day… Prepping for @nascar on @sportsonprime with @dalejr & @adam1alexander,” the former crew chief wrote.

Earnhardt is one of the sport’s biggest ambassadors and beloved by most fans. Naturally, fans enjoy his broadcast work. Letarte and Alexander are also respected by the drivers and the fans. Combine those qualities with the lackluster coverage Fox has produced for years, the change of broadcast teams is a welcomed one.
