This weekend, NASCAR fans will be treated to Denny Hamlin in the Xfinity Series booth. He joins The CW broadcast group. During the last few weeks, The CW has had a number of drivers in the booth to help bring a different perspective to the race coverage.
Denny Hamlin hasn’t been on a race broadcast in a few years. However, he should do just fine. After all, he has more mic experience now since he’s had the podcast.
During Actions Detrimental, Hamlin was asked about his latest TV appearance. He kind of forgot.
“I am. I forgot about that. Yup. Umm…” Hamlin said.
“Well, looking forward to it. Working with the old CW folks. Adam Alexander will be fun. I believe he was calling the Xfinity race when I was doing it back then as well. So, he’s such a pro.”
So, what can fans expect from Denny Hamlin in the booth? Well, you can expect him to refer to the folks who know better. Still, Hamlin should bring a good perspective to the race.
“I’m going to rely heavily on their statistician, their information people to feed me race histories, who’s been good here, blah, blah, blah,” Hamlin continued. “All that stuff will be really important to being knowledgeable about what you’re talking about.”
The Dover Xfinity Series race will be very interesting. Connor Zilisch has been the hottest driver in the series lately. Can Justin Allgaier find his groove again?
This is a great time in the season for Denny Hamlin to call a race. If you are a fan of racing, the Xfinity Series has been putting on fantastic races and finishes in the last two months. Connor Zilisch is looking to continue his hot streak.
Since missing the Texas race to rest after a hard Talladega wreck, Zilisch has had seven straight top-five finishes. That includes two wins, Pocono and Sonoma. Last year, he won the ARCA race at Dover. So, is he one of the favorites this weekend, too?
Then you have Justin Allgaier. Still the points leader, Allgaier hasn’t been as dominant in that same seven-race timeframe. Since winning at Nashville, the 7 team has had finishes of P34, P10, P31, P23, and P6. Not the worst, but not what Allgaier was doing to start the season.
Denny Hamlin in the booth, a lot of young, exciting drivers in the field – the Xfinity Series is ready for Dover. It should be a great race at the Monster Mile.
