Another action-packed weekend for the NASCAR national series at EchoPark Speedway. Cup, O'Reilly, and Truck Series will all hit the track. Unlike last week, it looks like NASCAR might not get so lucky with the weather forecast.
First up, today's sessions on track are only for the Truck and O'Reilly Series. Those two series will qualify. There are no practice sessions at the drafting tracks, except for the week of the Daytona 500.
On Saturday, it is going to be busy, busy, busy. The day will start with Cup Series qualifying going straight into prerace for the Truck Series. It will be a doubleheader with the O'Reilly Series following the truckers.
FRIDAY |
SATURDAY |
SUNDAY |
Temperatures in the 70s for Truck and O'Reilly qualifying. |
Temperatures in the 60s with 90% chance of rain in the day. Could impact Cup qualifying and Truck/O'Reilly races. |
Chilly, high in the low 50s. Wind gusts of 43 MPH possible. Sunny with a few clouds. |
Party sunny for the afternoon, scattered showers and thunderstorms at night. |
55% chance of rain with temperatures dropping to the 40s at night. Wind gusts up to 25 MPH. Possible delays. |
Very low chance of rain throughout the day. Cool/cold weather, but otherwise clear. Could be good day to delay Truck or O'Reilly race if needed. |
So, the weather report right now doesn't look the best. Tonight, the rain shouldn't matter all that much. Truck and O'Reilly Series teams will be done qualifying before any weather has a chance to make an impact.
However, Saturday could be a rainout. It is likely to rain throughout the morning and afternoon. There are lights at EchoPark Speedway. Unless the forecast changes a little bit or NASCAR gets lucky, I'd expect weather to be a factor this weekend. Thankfully, Sunday looks like it will be clear for the Cup Series, albeit a little colder than expected.
