Ty Majeski paces NASCAR Truck Series championship practice at Phoenix

The defending NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion flexed his muscle in Thursday's practice session at Phoenix Raceway.

Ty Majeski, driver of the No. 98 ThorSport Racing Ford, was quickest in practice at Phoenix on Thursday evening, laying down a fastest lap of 26.913 seconds. Majeski ran 25 laps in the session, the least of any of the Championship 4 drivers. 

The other Championship 4 drivers in Tyler Ankrum, Kaden Honeycutt and Corey Heim were seventh, 12th and 15th in the session, respectively, with Heim running the most laps of the four with 38. 

Notable Truck Series practice results

Layne Riggs, Brent Crews, Rajah Caruth and Gio Ruggiero rounded out the top five, with two-time Truck Series champion Ben Rhodes, Ankrum, Jake Garcia, Connor Mosack and Tanner Gray completing the top 10. 

Other notable practice results include Corey LaJoie in 13th, three-time Truck Series champion Matt Crafton in 16th, Grant Enfinger in 17th, Daniel Hemric in 18th and Chandler Smith in 20th. 

Caleb Costner was last (34th) on the speed chart. 

Truck Series qualifying will take place on Friday at 3:35 p.m. ET, with coverage on Fox Sports 2. The 150-lap Truck Series championship race will go green shortly after 7:30 p.m. ET, with coverage on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
