The Sixers will surely miss the 27-year-old All-Star. Embiid leads the team with 21.4 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. He was expected to sit out Monday's game against the New York Knicks to be ready for Tuesday's game against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks.
Philadelphia is enjoying its best start to a season in two decades and lead the East with an 8-2 record, winning six games in a row.

It’s the first time the team’s won at least eight of its first 10 games since 2000-01’s 10-0 start.
Before that, it was 1982-83 (9-1).
