2015 NBA Finals MVP Andre Iguodala returns to Warriors on one-year deal to finish career in Golden State

Andre Iguodala is returning to the Golden State Warriors on a one-year deal to finish his career, he told Jonathan Abrams of the New York Times.

"Who would have thought I'd have the opportunity to go back to the place where I was able to have, whatever you want to call it, legacy years, in terms of the accomplishments, winning multiple championships, the relationships that I was able to build with some of my closest friends and teammates?" Iguodala said. "The relationship with the fans, the relationship with the Bay, the opportunity to end it here, was just something special."

Iguodala was a free agent this summer after the Miami Heat declined his option for the 2021-22 season. The 37-year-old averaged 4.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game with the Heat last season while shooting 38.3% from the field and 33% from deep.

Igoudala played six of his 17 NBA seasons with the Warriors from 2013-19, winning three titles with Golden State in that span.

It's unclear what type of role he'll have on the court, but Iguodala will be a solid veteran presence in the Golden State locker room alongside Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, the Brooklyn Nets were also a finalist for Iguodala this summer.

In addition to Iguodala, the Warriors' "plan A" this offseason is to acquire a "starting-caliber player in his prime."
