76ers All-Star center Joel Embiid tests positive for COVID-19

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid tested positive for COVID-19, multiple sources reported Monday. He is expected to miss several games.

Embiid wasn't at team shootaround on Monday morning, according to ESPN

The Sixers will surely miss the 27-year-old All-Star. Embiid leads the team with 21.4 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. He was expected to sit out Monday's game against the New York Knicks to be ready for Tuesday's game against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks.

Philadelphia is enjoying its best start to a season in two decades and lead the East with an 8-2 record, winning six games in a row.

That record comes in the midst of ongoing drama surrounding currently absent Ben Simmons, suggesting the team is may be better off without the embattled 25-year-old.
