76ers' Ben Simmons doubtful for Summer Olympics?

One can not blame Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons for taking a break from competitive basketball this summer.

According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, Simmons is doubtful to play for Australia in the upcoming Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan, and will instead be "working on skill development" over the next several months. The 24-year-old produced some dreadful shooting performances during Philadelphia's second-round playoff series versus the Atlanta Hawks and blamed himself following Sunday's elimination loss.

"I ain't shoot well from the line this series," Simmons said after he made only 34.2% of his free throws throughout the postseason. "Offensively, I wasn't there. I didn't do enough for my teammates. ... There's a lot of things that I need to work on."

Earlier on Monday, 76ers coach Doc Rivers told reporters there is a plan to help Simmons improve his shooting during the offseason. "You can do the work all the time. But if it's not done in the right way and the right type of work, you may not improve," Rivers explained. "After being here for a year, I really do believe we've identified what and how, and now we have to do the do part. We have to work to do it. It's not going to be an easy job. But it's definitely a job that Ben can do."
