76ers star Ben Simmons' knee injury not expected to be serious

Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons departed the Wednesday afternoon game versus the Washington Wizards in the third quarter due to a knee injury, but early indications are Sixers fans shouldn't panic.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the 24-year-old experienced "no swelling or pain in (his) left knee after leaving (the) court," according to sources.

Simmons suffered a back injury while playing against the Milwaukee Bucks on Feb. 22. That problem kept him sidelined through the league's suspension of play on March 11 due to the coronavirus pandemic, and he continues to work back toward in-game fitness at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

Philadelphia defeated Washington 107-98 to improve to 41-27, one game behind the Indiana Pacers and two back of the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference standings. The Sixers face the Orlando Magic on Friday.
