Despite never winning the Dunk Contest, Denver Nuggets star Aaron Gordon is one of the best dunkers the event has ever seen. One could easily argue that Gordon is the best dunker the event has ever seen, despite the fact that he somehow never won the competition.

After Saturday night's underwhelming Dunk Contest, Gordon went viral on social media with a hilarious post:

Having placed second twice, despite having the most 50s in the contest's history, Gordon joked on X (formerly known as Twitter), saying he could have gotten second this year as well.

While this Dunk Contest had some solid showings, one of the biggest issues with the competition is that almost everything has been done at this point. It's very hard to come up with a dunk that hasn't been done, which removes some of the "wow factor" from a lot of these dunks.

This is what made Gordon's two performances so special, because he was pulling out dunks that had not only never been done before, but seemed impossible. Gordon's 2016 battle with Zach LaVine will almost certainly never be touched again, and is arguably the greatest Dunk Contest in the history of NBA All-Star Weekend.

No longer interested in doing the Dunk Contest, Gordon joked that he could have gotten second this year, like he did the two times he competed.
