Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic is still only 24 years old, but he's already accomplished so much in his basketball career that he not only has the respect of his peers on the court, but he also has the respect of NBA legends who are no longer playing anymore.

On a recent episode of "Headliners with Rachel Nichols" on Showtime and Paramount+ , former NBA MVP and Philadelphia 76ers legend Allen Iverson was asked which player he'd choose to team up with out of all the current players in the league. Iverson chose Doncic, and he believes the duo, had they played together in their primes, would've been "deadly."

"One of today's players, I would want it to be Luka [Doncic]," Iverson said. "Because he's a big point guard. I can still play the two. He can guard the two, I can guard the one. I think it'd just be deadly."

It's easy to see why Iverson would pick Doncic, consider the potential future Hall-of-Famer Kyrie Irving has shown while playing next to him. Iverson had career averages of 26.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 2.2 steals per game, and Irving has career averages of 23.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game.

Iverson wasn't fortunate enough to win a championship during his career, but he ended up with three All-NBA First Team appearances, seven All-NBA selections all together, one league MVP, 11 All-Star appearances and an induction into the Hall of Fame.

Iverson's one trip to the NBA Finals was thwarted by the dynamic duo of Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal in 2001, but things might have been different had he had a co-star like Doncic by his side. We'll never know for sure just how good the two backcourt stars from different eras would be together, but hey, that's what NBA 2K is for, right?
