Andre Drummond: 'By the time I retire, I'll go down as the best rebounder ever'

If someone were to rank the best rebounders in the history of the NBA, names like Bill Russell, Dennis Rodman, and Wilt Chamberlain would probably be near the top of the list.

However, 10-year NBA veteran Andre Drummond believes he belongs among that elite company.

Speaking with Mike Anthony of CT Insider, Drummond said he wants to go down as the best rebounder in basketball history.

"I think I'm already there, Drummond said. "I'm on my way. By the time I retire, I'll go down as the best rebounder ever — if not already."

Drummond has led the NBA in total rebounds five times since being drafted 9th overall by the Detroit Pistons in 2012. He carries a career average of 13.3 rebounds per game, placing him at the top among active players and 11th all-time.

His 13.3 rebounds per game average are the highest among active players and good enough for 11th all-time.

This offseason, Drummond signed a free-agent deal with the Chicago Bulls after splitting last season with the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets. Chicago will be the sixth stop for the 29-year-old during his decade-long career.

"It's like a field trip," Drummond said. "I've moved around a lot. But I just control what I can control. For me, it's kind of fun. You've got to look at it as a fun journey."

Drummond averaged 7.9 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.1 steals, averaging 20 minutes per game for the Sixers and Nets.
