The Los Angeles Lakers signed Andre Drummond on Sunday after he was bought out by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Montrezl Harrell’s blunt response to the move largely represents everyone’s feelings about it.
Drummond averaged 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds in 25 starts this season with the Cleveland Cavaliers and will likely be able to do the same in L.A.
In the immediate aftermath of the move, fans unearthed an old tweet by Drummond regarding his new Lakers teammate, LeBron James.
The tweet in question hits a bit differently now that they’re both representing purple and gold.
Big picture, the Drummond addition was huge for the Lakers. After the front office failed to get anything of note done before the trade deadline, it looked like the defending champs might be in trouble.
This salvaged the week in a big way.
Obviously L.A. still needs to figure out a way to cope with James’ troubling health prognosis, but that’s a separate issue.
Drummond will provide the Lakers with a huge boost – and that’s all they can ask for at this juncture.
