Former NBA center Andrew Bogut thinks the Kings may just sign and keep Matthew Dellavedova, the former Cavaliers guard who recently went through a workout with Sacramento.

Bogut and Dellavedova are both Australian and have played together as members of that country’s national team.

And, of course, Dellavedova played for current Kings coach Mike Brown with the Cavs during the 2013-14 season.

“I heard Matthew Dellavedova is being considered to sign with the Sacramento Kings,” Bogut said on his podcast, via Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee. “Mike Brown loves him. I have a feeling they might bring him in. They need someone that’s a pro every day. Harrison Barnes is that guy, but it would help to have another guy like that in the locker room with the young guys.”

The Kings also may be looking for a third point guard behind De’Aaron Fox and Davion Mitchell. It sems they would prefer an experienced player in that role.

Dellavedova, 31, did not play in the NBA last season, instead spending the year with Melbourne United of the Australian National Basketball League. He averaged 10.3 points and 4.8 assists, shooting 39 percent from the field.

His last NBA season with the Cavs didn’t go so well, as he appeared in just 13 games in 2020-21, suffering an array of injuries, including a concussion and whiplash. He also underwent an emergency appendectomy.

Dellavedova was a member of the Cavs’ 2016 championship team and carries NBA career averages of 5.5 points and 3.7 assists.

Along with Dellavedova, the Kings have worked out NBA veterans Quinn Cook and Shabazz Muhammadper RealGM.

Cook, 29, is 6-foot-1. He also last played in the NBA with the Cavs in 2020-21, appearing in seven games. He has also spent time with the Lakers, Warriors, Pelicans and Mavericks.

Muhammad, 29, is 6-6 and last played in the NBA in 2018. He spent five years with the Timberwolves and another with the Bucks.
