Antawn Jamison calls Gilbert Arenas 'best teammate' he had

Many things come to mind when thinking about former Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas. "Great teammate" probably isn't the first one, but for former Wizards power forward Antawn Jamison, this is exactly what he thinks of when it comes to "Agent Zero."

"[Arenas was] hands down the best teammate I ever had," Jamison told 106.7 The Fan’s Sports Junkies on Wednesday. "He wanted to be the best. And he was. He was, at one particular time, an MVP candidate."

Arenas, a three-time NBA All-Star, is remembered best by most NBA fans for a 2010 incident where teammate Javaris Crittenton pointed a gun at Arenas in the Wizards' locker room. The two were arguing over gambling debts. Arenas, who also had unloaded firearms in the locker room, was later arrested and pleaded guilty to the felony of carrying an unlicensed pistol outside a home or business. The incident essentially ruined Arenas' career.

Jamison also shared his views on the subject.

“I think people over [emphasize] the end of his career and all the negative things that happened,” Jamison said. "The problem with Gilbert is just the outside distractions took over what he did on the basketball court."

Jamison is currently an NBA analyst for CSN. Arenas last played in the NBA in 2012 with the Grizzlies.
