There has been no shortage of exciting sneaker releases throughout this NBA season. Brands from all over the globe are teaming up with rising stars to disrupt the footwear industry. However, no partnership has proven more formidable than adidas and Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards.

Before the start of the season, the adidas AE 1 made its splashy debut in Edwards' hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. Adidas capitalized on the hype through a series of provocative ads where Edwards called out other NBA players' signature sneakers, resulting in drama on social media.

Naturally, the Georgia peach-inspired launch colorway sold out quickly online. But athletes and fans are in luck as the highly-anticipated second release is taking place this week. Below is everything you must know about the adidas AE 1 'New Wave' colorway.

adidas AE 1 'New Wave'

The adidas AE 1 'New Wave' will be released at 3:00 a.m. EST on Thursday, January 25. Online shoppers can purchase the performance basketball shoes for $120 in adult sizes on the adidas website.

Edwards' first signature sneaker embodies the futuristic ethos inherent in all of adidas' best hoop shoes. The 'New Wave' colorway sports a cold blast of Arctic Fusion on the upper and outsole with Core Black around the ankle collar and interior lining. While the aesthetic is cold, it is the tech specs that make the shoe.

The TPU containment wing on the upper provides stability and containment. Meanwhile, the full-length TPU-encased Jet Boost technology offers an enhanced experience with smaller energy capsules fused together for greater energy return and cushion. An aggressive traction pattern on the rubber outsole provides a solid foundation on the court.

Everything from the marketing to the design has made the launch of Edwards' signature sneaker line an instant hit. In an era of some recycled ideas, adidas has made it clear that a 'New Wave' is taking place. Stay locked into FanNationKicks.com for all your footwear news from the sports world.
