As expected, Bob Myers is leaving his position as head of basketball operations and architect of four championships with the Warriors, per multiple reports.

Marc Stein of The Stein Line was the first to report that Myers was leaning toward departing. Warriors owner Joe Lacob was prepared to offer Myers a lucrative contract extension, Stein reported.

Myers is not expected to take another job this season, despite the fact he would be in high demand. The possibility exists that he may not return to the NBA, sources told Hoops Wire.

“It’s just time,” Myers said of his reason for leaving, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

A former player agent, Myers has been in his current position with the Warriors since 2012. They have won four championships in the past nine years, with Myers being the man who shaped the roster and hired Steve Kerr as coach.

Assistant GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. is the likely frontrunner to replace Myers, per reports.

Forward Draymond Green and other members of the team had strongly suggested they’re hopeful Myers would return.

“He means the world to me,” Green told Mark Medina of Sportsnaut. “Working with him has been a complete honor. He’s great. He knows the business and I learn from him. To say that doesn’t matter, it’s a lie. Of course, it matters. But there’s a bunch of things to take into account. Yes, that is one of the things that matters. All right? But ultimately, I can’t hinge my whole decision on that. But f— right it matters.”
