Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum recently underwent surgery to repair his torn right Achilles. The six-time NBA All-Star faces a long spell on the sidelines because of the injury.
Fortunately for Tatum, an Achilles injury is no longer the end of the road for a professional athlete. We’ve seen several stars bounce back from this, including Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant.
Former NBA star Charles Barkley recently advised Tatum to seek advice from Durant on recovering from an Achilles tear since Durant maintained his NBA star status even after the injury.
“First call I would make is to Kevin Durant. (he’s) six years removed from the time he blew out his Achilles. The best experience is somebody who’s already experienced it before,” Barkley said on NBA on TNT.
Boston Celtics News: ESPN analyst challenges Jaylen Brown amid Jayson Tatum’s Achilles injury
Former NBA player-turned-ESPN analyst Jay Williams expects Jaylen Brown to shoulder the load for the Boston Celtics. The defending champions are one loss away from being eliminated by the New York Knicks in the second round of the 2025 NBA playoffs.
“The Knicks are going to win the series. But this is why you got the bag Jaylen Brown. This is your 300-million dollar moment. This time demands that moment for you to lead this team,” Williams said on First Take.
“I think this is a moment in time for Jaylen Brown, who has not had a great series by any means to his standards, to come out and put his team on his back,” he added.
