Bradley Beal dishes on Sixers' rising star Tyrese Maxey

Tyrese Maxey is emerging as one of the NBA's brighter young guards. Wizards star Bradley Beal has noticed.

"He's confident, he's running his team, he's playing like an All-Star. He's super-talented, and the game is only going to continue to slow down more and more for him, which is even scarier," Beal said, per Ky Carlin of USA Today

Through nine games, the 22-year-old is averaging 24.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists and shooting a 46.8 percent from beyond the arc.

With Joel Embiid out with a non-COVID illness, Sixers coach Doc Rivers has allowed the rising star to take on a bigger role in the offense.

In the Sixers' 121-111 loss against the Wizards on Wednesday, he posted 32 points on an efficient 11-of-20 shooting from the field.

The addition of James Harden, who will miss a month with a foot strain, allowed Maxey to slide back to his natural position and embrace the scoring nature of his game.

Sixers assistant Sam Cassell has helped develop many promising guards, including Maxey and Beal.

"He’s been killing the league," Beal said of Maxey. "He’s special.”

With Harden out, Maxey and Tobias Harris may get more scoring opportunities. Reserve guard De’Anthony Melton, who missed Wednesday’s game, will likely start in Harden’s place.
